Running a red light leads to fatal crash

On Behalf of | Apr 10, 2024 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

California drivers may be aware of the dangers of not following traffic laws, especially when it comes to running a red light, but that doesn’t mean they always follow the laws. Running a red light puts others at risk of suffering serious or fatal injuries. Sadly, a recent accident in Fresno resulted in one death after a car ran a red light and struck several other vehicles.

How the crash happened

The accident happened on a Sunday night at around 9:20 p.m. A small vehicle was driving south on Friant near Woodward Park when it ran through the red light striking a vehicle that was turning at the intersection. Three other vehicles that were at the red light were also struck in the collision.

One man involved in the crash suffered fatal injuries and later died at the hospital. Three other people were in pain after the crash, but not seriously injured. The investigation will continue to determine if charges will be filed against the driver who ran the red light.

Legal help after an accident

Injured accident victims, or in the case of a fatality, the victim’s family members have the right to seek compensation after an accident where negligence was a factor. The surviving family members of a deceased victim may be facing funeral costs, medical bills, and other expenses associated with the death of their loved one. These expenses can add up quickly and create financial hardship for a grieving family. A successful lawsuit against the driver at fault can provide monetary compensation to help a family recover their financial losses.
