Ramey Law P.C. recently represented a general contractor sued by a homeowner in connection with a large, remodeling project on a water view home. The homeowner had sued the firm’s client as a result of water intrusion into the home at multiple locations, and was initially seeking over one million dollars in repair costs and relocation damages. The firm recently completed a jury trial involving a suit to obtain payment for the firm’s client against a homeowner who refused to pay for a change order authorized by the homeowner’s representative to install an exterior video surveillance system during the course of a multi million dollar home remodeling project. The firm recently obtained an arbitration award for its client, an independent film producer, in a breach of contract action against an individual who had been hired to serve as the visual effects supervisor for an independent film being produced by the firm’s client. Ramey Law P.C. tried a case in 2011 involving a construction site accident. Although liability for the plaintiff’s injury was a certainty, the underlying issue preventing the case from settling was the express contractual indemnity between our client and another defendant. The other defendant insisted that our client pay 100% of any settlement, as well as their attorney fees.
