There are some types of safety hazards that might prove nearly impossible to prepare for and most drivers might not expect to encounter items falling from above while on the open road. Unfortunately, should a vehicle overturn while navigating an overpass, the risk that debris might fall off the side of the road and into the path of drivers below may be ever-present. A recent car accident in which bags of concrete fell off an overturned truck and crashed into a car below has claimed the life of a woman in California.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred at around 1 p.m. on a recent Friday. Authorities indicate that for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of a truck suddenly lost control and overturned his vehicle. They advised that he was transporting a load of concrete bags and that several of these bags fell off the side of the overpass and hit a car below.
According to reports, some of these concrete bags crashed through the front windshield of the car and hit the driver. Authorities say that she suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. When facing such a situation, drivers might find it almost impossible to spot such hazards in time to respond to the situation and the outcome of such incidents could leave surviving loved ones mourning over an unexpected loss.
After a fatal collision
Losing a loved one in a car accident can be harrowing in any situation. However, if the incident occurs due to the actions of another party, the outcome may prove even more challenging to accept. Those who suffer an untimely loss under similar circumstances may wish to exercise their rights to seek restitution in civil court and they could choose to retain the services of an attorney in California for guidance through every step of this process.
