Several injured in multi-vehicle crash involving tractor-trailer

While the increases to size and weight may allow tractor-trailers to transport heavy loads, these factors also affect the maneuverability of similar vehicles. Should a truck driver fail to allow sufficient space to react to changes in traffic patterns, it may be nearly impossible to bring the vehicle to a halt and the results of such matters could prove dire. As many as five individuals reportedly suffered injuries in a recent car accident involving up to seven vehicles in California. 

Multiple-vehicle collision 

Reports indicate that the incident occurred at around 2:15 p.m. on a recent Friday. Authorities say it began when the driver of a tractor-trailer failed to stop upon approaching a shift in traffic patterns. The truck proceeded to crash into a nearby van before crossing into the opposite lanes and colliding with several vehicles. Authorities have advised that as many as seven vehicles were involved in the crash. 

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders reportedly airlifted the driver of the van to a medical facility for treatment of severe injuries. Four others involved in the crash were also transported to a nearby hospital with injuries, but the nature of their conditions was not provided. No further details were provided pertaining to why the driver of the truck may have exhibited such negligence and the investigation into the incident reportedly remains ongoing.
