Operating a vehicle in the wrong lane of traffic can be exceedingly dangerous and those who encounter similar safety threats might not always be able to navigate out of harm’s way. Head-on collisions that occur under similar scenarios can be catastrophic incidents that may place the lives of everyone involved in jeopardy. A recent car accident involving a wrong way driver has reportedly claimed the lives of two individuals in California.

Authorities say they responded to reports of the collision at around 2:30 a.m. on a recent Friday. Initial investigations indicate that the incident began when for reasons unknown, the driver of a southbound car suddenly turned around and began traveling in the opposite direction in southbound lanes. This car proceeded to crash into a second vehicle soon thereafter and the impact of the crash reportedly caused both vehicles to erupt into flames.

Emergency responders advised that both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. While an investigation into the incident remains underway, no further information was provided as to what might have caused the driver of the car to attempt such a dangerous maneuver. Incidents of this nature run the unfortunate risk of leaving surviving family members grieving over an untimely loss and leave them in search of answers, or even justice.

Losing a loved one in a fatal car accident is something no family should have to endure, especially if it occurs due to the negligent actions of another driver. After experiencing such a loss, those in search of advice on their available options for legal recourse could choose to retain the services of an attorney for advice on the next steps to take. An attorney can help a client in California better understand all the available options and assist in preparing to seek the full amount of compensation to which he or she is entitled to receive through the proper outlets.
