Ramey Law, P.C. obtain an arbitration award in an entertainment industry dispute
November 18, 2011
The firm recently obtained an arbitration award for its client, an independent film producer, in a breach of contract action against an individual who had been hired to serve as the visual effects supervisor for an independent film being produced by the firm’s client. The individual, who was hired to serve as the visual effects supervisor for the film, was fully paid for the services by our client, yet failed to deliver the full amount of visual effects for which he was paid, and provided visual effects which are of substandard quality.
Using expert witness testimony concerning the quality of the visual effects, as well as the visual effects supplied by the individual to demonstrate their substandard quality, the firm convinced the arbitrator that the individual had breached his agreement with the firm’s client, and awarded contract damages, attorneys fees and costs, and further ruled that the individual deserved no credit for the work he did supply for the film.
